Riding

A local Riding Stables, fully equipped with both indoor and outdoor arenas can cater for beginners and more experienced riders alike. Students can choose whether to take a lesson or go on a “trek” – either through the picturesque lanes or along the beach.

Swimming

Relax and unwind in the pool of one of Westport’s finest hotels.

Local Beaches

Swim, play ball sports & body surf on any of a number of exquisite, empty and unspoilt beaches.

Croagh Patrick

Climb Croagh Patrick! This is a 764 metres (2,510 ft) mountain 8 kilometres from Westport and an important site of pilgrimage – with a small chapel on its peak. It is the third highest mountain in County Mayo. On "Reek Sunday", the last Sunday in July every year, over 15,000 pilgrims climb the mountain. It is said that St Patrick threw off all Ireland’s snakes from the top of this mountain, leaving the country free from snakes.

Mackerel Fishing

Straight from the bottom of our field, take a trip in a small motor boat to catch some mackerel for supper! The brave ones can learn how to gut the fish….

Bicycle Tour

Take a healthy & scenic trip on a bicycle along the newly constructed 42km traffic free cycling and walking facility. This follows the line of the famous Newport / Mulranny / Achill Railway, which closed in 1937 & offers gentle gradients and some of the most idyllic scenery in the west of Ireland. This is the longest off road cycling experience in Ireland & more importantly has many benches & tables at which we can stop for a picnic or refreshments!

Sea Kayaking

Spend an afternoon off Achill beach learning how to kayak! All specialist equipment is provided and instruction / guiding is with top qualified Irish Canoe Union Instructors.

Golf

Enjoy a round of golf on the stunning links nearby the house. Totally empty fairways, with beautiful views of the sea & Clew Bay from many of the holes. Clubs are provided.

Surfing

Drive to the stunning Achill Island, partake of a private lesson with your fellow students & try to ride the waves! All kit & equipment provided by the established local Surf School. Achill is world renowned for surf & scenery. This is always a highlight day for students.

Skateboarding

“Hang out” with your new friends in the Skate park in Westport. This newly built arena is a perfect place to practice your skateboarding in a safe environment – all with the stunning backdrop of Croagh Patrick. All safety equipment is provided (& obligatory).

High Ropes

A treetop high ropes adventure park with a difference. You can climb high into the treetops, swing into cargo nets, even ride a bmx across a bridge in the trees before zipping down one of the many ziplines – “Acrobranche” in leafy Ireland :)

Ballinrobe Races

Experience the thrill of the races. Learn about the "odds" and place bets on your favourite horse with sweets (if you don't eat them first!). Check out the style of the Irish ladies in their finest Race Day hats!
